Old Town Poetry Series presents...

Voices of Resistance:

Poets Against the War

When: Thursday, March 15, at 7:30 PM

Where: Unitarian Universalist Church, 855 Grove St. in East Lansing

On Thursday, March 15, at 7:30 PM, the Old Town Poetry Series will host "Voices of Resistance: Poets Against the War" at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 855 Grove St. in East Lansing.

The event will comprise an evening of poetry and song invoking peace and resistance to ‹ and transcendence of ‹ violence. Each poet will be called upon to read one poem . . . & thus the evening will present a tapestry of voices in resistance to hopelessness.

The evening will be part of a week of events locally and nationally marking the 4th year of the war in Iraq.

Audience members who wish to read a poem in the Open Mike segment of the evening are invited to drop their names in the hat at the door.

The Old Town Poetry Series has been based at the Creole Gallery for the past 7 years, and our heart and soul lies there. However, because of the tragic loss of our friend and benefactor, Robert Busby, the owner of the Creole Gallery, and because we would like to make things as easy as possible upon Meegan and Robert's family, we have rescheduled this event at the UU church, which has most graciously opened their Fellowship Hall to us.

Admission is free.
